Eastern Baikal in summer

Starting from Ulan-Ude: Ust-Barguzin village, Holy Nose peninsula, Barguzin valley, Ushkanie islands with its Seal rocks. Russian, Buryat and Old Believers cultures are the bright side of your cultural insight. It’s less popular with tourists, off-the-beaten-track and more challenging.

We visit both Barguzinsky and Chyvirkuisky bays, driving through the national park. Boat in summer and driving on the ice in winter will give you a great idea what lake Baikal is.

Itinerary

Day 1. Driving to the highest point of the city for morning panorama. Then start driving to lake Baikal. A few stops on the way at Batutinsky female Monastery, Turtle Rock and shamanistic Oboo. Lunch on the way in local cafe at the shore of the lake. There can be stops on demand for picture, we’ll recommend you where the best to stop. By the end of the day the local family at the village will welcome to their home and treat you with home food. And of course you will try a real russian Banya, traditional steam sauna. (LD)

Day 2. Breakfast. Start the excursion to Holy Nose peninsula, deep inside the Zabaikalsky National Park. You will drive russia military vans. Our experienced guide or a driver will stop at the most picturesque spots for the best views. You will see two best bays of the lake and even sail on the boat to the Snake Bay, the place famous for the healing hot springs baths. Lunch is picnic or on-board. Home cooked dinner. (BLD)

Day 3. Excursion to Barguzin valley, the land of amazing landscapes: mountains, rivers, holy places. Visiting Suvo village, Adamovo village, ancient petroglyphs and more. Home cooked lunch, overnight in Ust-Barguzin. (BLD)

Day 4. Morning start back to Ulan-Ude city. (B)

1a. Ust-Barguzin 4 days ACTIVE  

It’s almost the same as the one above. Main difference is this tour is more adventurous, 3 different overnights (a homestay in Ust-Barguzin, a hut in the woods in the valley, a hut inside National Park). This allows to get closer to the nature.

Our experienced guide or a driver will stop at the most picturesque spots for the best views. The Baikal seal (nerpa), is a species endemic (unique) to Baikal, the worlds deepest lake.
